Well Diamond Wire Saws

Since 1974, Well Diamond Saws SA has helped thousands of customers around the world cut challenging materials faster and more efficiently.

Well Diamond Saw’s patented technology reflects the strategy of constant innovation. Well designs and manufactures our saws so that our customers achieve their objectives with the desired quality, regardless of their use or scope (research and development, production, quality control, or material analysis).  WELL diamond wire saws are designed to cleanly cut most materials, regardless of their hardness, fragility, or elasticity. Our smooth, diamond wire cutting ensures that the surfaces of the material cut are straight and smooth, while almost never creating roughness on the surface where the wire enters the surface of the cut.

Diamond Wire Saw Series 3000 – High Precision Cutting

The diamond wire saws of the 3000 series are highly appreciated, especially in laboratories, thanks to their sophisticated design and ease of use. Over 1,800 3000 Series Saws have been distributed worldwide to date.  It is worthy of note that the first machine delivered by Well Diamond Wire Saws SA is still in service today.

The new 3000 series is now available in 3 models (3100, 3400 and 3500). Two versions of the 3500 model are available: a “Base” version and a “Premium” version. Designed to meet market demands, the following features are common to all models:

  • Variable wire speed control

  • Automatic shutdown in case of wire breakage

  • 60 mm linear feed

  • Sample height adjustment

  • Automatic stop at the end of the cut

  • Accepts the use of a cutting fluid

Model 4500 Diamond Wire Saw

The 4500 model is a benchtop saw. This is probably our most versatile saw. Indeed, when creating this model, we applied the operating principle of the WELL 3000 series diamond wire saws. Designed as a benchtop model, the WELL 4500 incorporates state-of-the-art technology and offers additional capabilities compared with the WELL 3000 series. It adapts to a wider range of materials and larger sample sizes and enables you to configure the following parameters:

  • Wire tension (gram)

  • Wire speed (meters / second)

  • Feed power (gram)

  • Simple operation and easy maintenance for long-term use

  • Continuous wire speed from 0 to 2.5 m / s

  • Diamond wire Ø 0.13 mm to 0.50 mm 40μ or thinner.

  • Max. cutting depth and height of 150 mm.

Model 6500 Diamond Wire Saw

The renowned WELL cutting principle has been incorporated into the 6500 model, enabling the cutting of quite large samples (300 mm high, 300 mm wide). It has the same design as the 4500 model, but larger. There is no restriction to the length of the pieces to be cut as long as they can be reasonably placed on the worktable. It is also possible to use the guide pulleys provided with the saw to precisely hold the wire in place.

The feed, which operates by gravity, is adjustable between 100 and 1500 g. This relatively low force results in a slightly longer cutting time than the average of the other cutting tools available. However, this process offers undeniable advantages. It is up to the user to choose between a faster cut that is often more aggressive for materials and the slightly longer but more precise WELL process.

Model 7500 Diamond Wire Saw

The WELL 7500 saw enables the unique and advantageous production capability to slice and section large specimens of brittle and fragile materials (THIS SAW IS SPECIAL ORDER PRODUCT WITH ~6 MONTHS LEAD-TIME). It offers the following characteristics:

  • Cuts all materials: ceramic, optical glass, glass, silicon (monocrystalline and polycrystalline), metals, composite materials, etc.

  • Samples up to 2000 mm in diameter or per side: flat surfaces, thin slices, very clean cut, almost intact surface.

  • Precision cutting process: the process does not cause micro-cracks because slow wire speed (max 2.5 m / s) does not generate heat. This heat is immediately evacuated (the liquid used is only to clean the diamond wire).

  • At higher wire speeds (up to about 25 m / s) the cutting speed is impressive. A water-cooling system will be installed to cool the sample.

  • Minimal material loss: the diamond wire diameter is 0.35, 0.5 and 0.7. The wire thus comes into contact with only a tiny surface area of the workpiece. Moreover, the surfaces obtained after cutting are flat and parallel: they only require very fast polishing, which causes a minimal loss of material. Our process saves you time and money.
